Harry Stern of Philadelphia, engineer and businessman, formed his first Enterprise, Action Manufacturing Company in 1946, which produced Precision electromechanical instruments, exported to 40 countries worldwide. He has spent a lifetime attempting to enhance the human condition of his fellow man and has lent his efforts to improving the education, job opportunities and health of the disadvantaged, the disabled and new immigrants. The Stern family is devoted to Israel and supports Jewish causes, culture and music. Advancing science and technology has been a lifelong project and in recent years Mr. Stern has become committed to supporting efforts to unravel the pathogenesis of mental illness. His dedication and support have garnered numerous honors and awards.

No cause has been more meaningful for Mr. Stern than the establishment of the Harry Stern National Center for Research and Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders. The human devastation caused by Alzheimer's disease is known to all. With this new national collaborative program, drawing on experts across the country, there is added hope to unravel the neuropathological mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s disease and develop novel therapeutic strategies. Nothing would please Mr. Harry Stern more than to see success in conquering this dread disease.
